UFC fighter Jon "Bones" Jones was arrested on charges of driving under the influence, negligent use of a firearm and possession of an open container in Albuquerque, N.M., KOAT Action News reported on Thursday.
Jones, who was also charged with no proof of insurance, was released from custody Thursday morning, per online Bernalillo County Metropolitan Detention Center records.
Per the KOAT report, police officers responded to a criminal complaint just after 1 a.m. after hearing a gunshot and arrived at the scene with Jones in a vehicle with the engine on. Jones told police he did not know of the shot fired.
Jones, who had signs of intoxication, admitted to officers that he had been driving earlier and had intentions of doing so again when they found him.
Per officers, Jones consented to a sobriety test and registered a blood-alcohol content that was over twice the legal limit.
After Jones was arrested, police discovered a black handgun under the driver's seat and a half-empty bottle of Recuerdo 750ml behind the passenger seat.
Jones, 32, is scheduled for a bond arraignment hearing April 8, ESPN reported, according to Bernalillo County District Attorney's Office spokesperson Michael Patrick.
This would be the second DWI for Jones, who was charged in 2012 in New York. He was convicted on a felony hit-and-run charge in 2015.
Jones (26-1, 1 no contest) is the UFC's longtime light heavyweight champion after winning the title in 2011.
