Israeli insensitivity questioned by the US administration
Albuquerque News.Net Sunday 14th March, 2010
The prime minister of Israel appears surprised by a rebuke from the US administration about its new settlement expansion.
Benjamin Netanyahu has held an urgent meeting with his Cabinet after US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton made an angry phone on Friday to tell him how the administration feels about Jewish settlement expansion in disputed East Jerusalem.
Ms Clinton told the PM he had sent a highly negative signal at a time when the US is trying to re-establish the Middle East peace process.
Last Tuesday the Israel Interior Ministry made an announcement on the approval of new settlements as US Vice President Joe Biden was landing in Israel.
Ms Clinton described the timing of the announcement as an insult.
Mr Netanyahu has since said the announcement was made without his knowledge, and the timing was unintentional, but he had apologised to Biden while he was in Israel and had hoped the matter was at an end.
Israel has continued to refuse to impose a full freeze on settlement construction in the West Bank.
Peace talks are now on hold, with the Palestinians saying they will not return to the negotiating table until Israel rescinds the decision for new construction in East Jerusalem. Email this story to a friend

Netanyahu unsure of next move with US
The world seems to think that peace can be forced upon people, fact is that they must want it.Islam does not want peace,it was fathered by a mad man and and the desire was to conquer by force. The father of peace was God Almighty,in the person of Jesus Christ.Any attemp to get to God must be through Jesus,,,not muhammed.

Peace talks will go nowhere anyway
The Palestinians will ask for unacceptable concessions which Israel will reject. What a waste of time.

After the earthquake in Haiti
To heal the wounds of the soul
Leticia MartÃnez Hernández Photo: Juvenal Balán
PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti. â On March 9, Cuba assaulted the Champ de Mars Plaza, the same one where thousands of sad, exhausted people took shelter two months ago. And yes, it was literally an assault, but the kind mounted by people devoted to healing the wounds of the soul. A Cuban-style assault, with rumba from Santiago, clowns, acrobats, magic, paintbrushes, colors, dances, stilts, songs⦠The captain of the invasion: the artist Kcho. The conquerors: members of the Marta Machado Brigade. The target? Hundreds of Haitians who, for one morning, forgot about the tragedy to smile with Cuba.
The Cuban artists moved among the tents and bedraggled improvised shelters, drawing people out.
The clock showed 10 a.m. Everything was ready in front of the gardens of the collapsed National Palace: the Haitian police in formation, fencing to mark off the activity space. But because art has no schematic way of doing things, far less the spirit of Kcho, the Brigade of cheer, far from any kind of fear, entered at the least-expected point. The Cuban artists moved among the tents and bedraggled improvised shelters, drawing out the people, whose reactions changed from amazement to delight as happiness invaded the plaza.
Kensà was a clown yesterday for the first time. The colors on his nose and cheeks displaced this little boyâs sadness, sweeping away the bad memories of an earthquake that left him homeless. Like him, hundreds of children, and adults, enjoyed the clowns on stilts prompting a noisy conga line under their long, long legs; the clown Cebollita, as people sprayed each other with his water gun; the magician Sixto, who before the eyes of dozens of people made gourdes (Haitian currency) and playing cards disappear; the vocal group Desandann, who had everyone shaking their hips with their songs in Creole; the paintbrushes of Rancaño; the sketches by Kcho, who told Granma daily that he felt happy at having learned that talent is worth nothing if not shared with others.
And it was pure art that the Cubans offered to hundreds of people in Champ de Mars Plaza. So it was perfectly normal, under that precept of share talent to make it real, to hear the notes of jazz musician Yasek Manzano. A young man who studied at Julliard, the prestigious New York school of music, and who has played on stages all over the world, and yesterday showered happiness on this devastated Haiti.
Neither his name nor his awards matter, Yasek said. 'Iâm just another guy who came to give his heart, to help with the talent that life gave me, with what I learned in Cuba. Iâve fallen in love with this. Iâve been with the brigade in Zapata Swamp, in Guayabal, on the Isle of Youth...and Kcho knows he can count on me.'
Kcho says his telephone has not stopped ringing since the same day of the earthquake, January 12. 'The brigade members, friends, were calling me to ask what we were going to do, but we realized that it wasnât as yet the right time to come here. It was the time for doctors, for healing, for operating. But our day arrived, and we are here to heal the wounds of the soul right now, because if not, the future of this country will be compromised forever. When am I leaving? I donât know. I just got to this country, and I came to help.'
Yesterday the crowded plaza was a fiesta. It all seemed surreal, a promise of the happiness that we wish for Haiti. Even the fence surrounding the National Palace, which makes one think of the line between luxury and misery, looked beautiful when Cuban hands hung from it enormous drawings made by Cuban children who have also been affected by natural disasters. A halo of faith, hope, and smiles covered Champ de Mars that day.

You’re off topic....way off

Maybe I am off topic!
Maybe you are too narrow minded, and too messianic to understand that Peace comes in other ways than making war and stealing, and occupying the lands of your neighbor!

It is time that the US stops giving aid to Israel
Stop all aid to Israel and remain neutral in this tug of war...
It is time that Israel learns to respect accords and fight its own battles without the drain that has and is putting on American taxpayers.
I believe that if Israel did not have the support of the USA. A peace settlement would have been reached long, long ago. And many innocent lives could have been saved, on both sides..

Where are the muslim nations?
Why must it always be America that is looking out for Muslims? When the Taliban kills thousands of Muslims in Afghanistan and Sadam kills hundreds of thousands in Iran, Iraq and Kuwait, when thousands of Muslims are massacred in Yugoslavia and thousands are stuck in Palestine under oppressive Israeli policies.
Europeans do nothing, Asians do nothing and Arabs do nothing except watch their brothers die. Why doesnât Malaysia or Indonesia or Saudi Arabia send thousands of troops to Palestine to uphold the UNâs settlement agreement? The US gives billions to Israel but they give trillions to Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Oman and Pakistan why arenât they taking the lead on this?
I think American tax payers are sick of giving all their money to oil rich Muslim nations who just turn around and attack them through funding âmuslimâ groups who are more interested in dealing drugs than reading the Koran. They refuse to lift a finger to protect their brothers against weapons and soldiers but they wonât hesitate to bring down a plane or blow up a market, killing hundreds and thousands of innocent women and children.
America is guilty of many crimes (especially under the Bush years) but its impossible to call it an anti-Muslim nation when they are the largest trade partner with almost every Muslim nation and just as many Muslims as Jews call America home.

Oh, that Old Time Religion!
Religion has been at the root of most major conflicts for centuries. Religious leaders can work to stop or prevent conflict but do not do so.
Conflict will decline when religions learn to adapt to the real world and accept the true role of mankind.
We should all unite to face a much greater threat - Extinction!

It is our capital
Jerusalem is the capital of Israel and we don’t need permission to build there! It has been our capital for 3,000 years. There has never been a palestinian nation nor a palestinian people. It is a myth. The Obama administration are acting like perfect dhimmis.

` ~galljdaj+ 03-24-10, 02:08 PM |
Without accepting your argument...
... why did you run away and abandon Jerusalem? So that the UN Resolution 181 paid for and brought back all that was left of the cowards that ran away?
