Suicide bomber targets opposition parliamentarian in Pakistan
Albuquerque News.Net Monday 6th October, 2008
A suicide bomber has attacked a parliamentary legislator in eastern Pakistan, as part of a string of attacks on local lawmakers.
The bomber killed at least 15 people and wounded more than 50, in the blast which occurred in the home of Rasheed Akbar Niwani, who belongs to the main opposition party in the federal government.
The bomber barged into the home of the legislator in Punjab, Pakistan's most populous and prosperous province.
After the blast, police officers described the scene as horrendous and littered with body parts.
It was the latest in a string of bombings against government, military and Western targets in Pakistan.
Last week, a suicide bomber blew himself up outside the house of a leading pro-government politician, killing four people.
