Kidnapped Germans released by PKK

Three German mountaineers seized by Kurdish rebels in eastern Turkey have been freed after 12 days in captivity.

German and Turkish officials have confirmed the three men, all from Bavaria, were freed in a mountainous area where they were found by Turkish police who had been searching for them.

The mountaineers, were abducted on July 8th by members of the Kurdish Workers Party, after their camp on Mount Arafat was raided.

The three were part of a 13-member expedition attempting to scale Mount Arafat.
